Identify why the bank redemption was rejected
A rejection indicates where the redemption request stopped; it does not necessarily mean your prize cannot be redeemed. A bank transfer can fail at the redemption screen, during our verification checks, or when the receiving bank processes the payment.
Identifying the stage where the rejection occurred helps you focus on the right solution, because correcting your bank details will not resolve an outstanding account verification request, and completing verification will not fix incorrect banking information or an account that is not in your own name.
Bank redemption rejection checks
The table below outlines the most common reasons a McLuck bank redemption may be rejected. Compare these with the message you received, then follow the relevant guidance before trying again.
| Reason category | What to verify | Appropriate next action |
|---|---|---|
| Method unavailable | Whether a bank transfer route is still displayed when you are signed in. | Use another displayed method; do not enter bank details into an unrelated route. |
| Entry error | Account number, routing digits, account type and legal name. | Correct the single inaccurate detail and keep the new confirmation. |
| Unsupported bank or account | Whether the bank and account type can receive the offered transfer and currency. | Ask your bank, then select another displayed McLuck redemption option if it cannot. |
| Name or ownership mismatch | Whether the destination belongs to you and matches your account. | Correct a genuine record through Support; never use another person’s bank. |
| Joint-account review | Whether you are a genuine account holder and whether additional evidence has been requested. | Submit only the evidence requested via the secure route. |
| Bank or provider return | Release date, return code, account status and provider explanation. | Keep the original reference and ask which correction or route is required. |
| Verification incomplete | Identity, proof of address, payment ownership, source of funds or other verification requested for your account. | Complete any outstanding verification requests before trying another redemption destination. |
If every displayed method fails, check for outstanding account, ownership or verification requirements and contact Support if the reason is unclear. If only the bank transfer fails, the issue may involve a detail or compatibility issue. A rejection does not confirm the rest of your request is eligible: completed verification, the requirement to play Sweepstakes Coins through once, and the minimum redemption balance for your chosen prize all still apply.
What ownership rules apply?
Under McLuck’s redemption rules, a cash prize redemption to a bank account is authorized only to an account held in your name. The name on your payment method must also match your Customer Account. This means that entering otherwise valid banking details does not make a third party’s bank account an eligible redemption destination. A valid routing number will not fix an account belonging to a friend, relative, employer, business or third party.
If you provide details for a jointly held account and you are an account holder, McLuck may request additional evidence relating to the account or its other holder before approving the redemption destination. Complete only the verification requested through the secure route.
If your legal name or address has genuinely changed, contact Support to update your Customer Account and supply the documents we request; keeping these details accurate is a standing account requirement, not only a redemption step. Never edit a bank statement, identity document or account name to force a match. An official correction may take review time, but an altered or falsified document can result in your verification or redemption being rejected, and may result in account restriction or termination.
Check the bank before resubmitting
Work from the actual rejection message and make only corrections that are necessary and accurate
- Confirm that the bank-transfer route is still displayed for the signed-in account and location.
- Ask the bank whether the exact account type can receive the transfer and currency McLuck offers.
- Compare the account-holder name, account type, routing details, and account number with an official bank record.
- Make sure the destination belongs to you and accurate identity details match the verified McLuck account.
- For a joint account, complete only the co-holder verification McLuck requests through the secure channel.
- Check the original redemption reference and status so you do not create a duplicate request while an existing request is still being reviewed.
- Save the rejection time, exact error, bank name, last four digits, and any bank return explanation.
- Select another displayed method if the bank or account type genuinely cannot receive the payment.
If one item is clearly wrong, correct it and resubmit once. If everything matches your bank record and the transfer still fails, the cause is the bank’s ability to receive the payment or an outstanding verification task, not a typing error. Contact Support with the evidence below rather than resubmitting repeatedly. If the bank genuinely cannot receive the payment, a gift card redemption is an alternative prize option.
What if the bank rejected an already released payment?
First establish whether the cash prize actually left. Ask your bank whether it saw an incoming payment and, if so, for the return reason, code and date. Then ask McLuck whether the payment was released, for what amount and destination, and whether the provider returned it. A returned payment differs from a validation error before submission, and from a redemption that is still pending rather than returned.
Keep the original redemption reference. Follow our instructions on correcting the destination or choosing another method. We may also issue a check or another payment method; any check is issued in your name and mailed to the address on your Customer Account.
A prize redemption may take up to 10 days to process, and processing times can vary depending on verification, the redemption method selected, and additional security or fraud checks. Larger redemptions may also be delivered in instalments. A return and reissue adds a further step. Ask Support for the current stage rather than assuming the original window restarts or guarantees a delivery date.
What should you send Support?
Give Support enough to trace the payment in one message: your registered email, the redemption reference, the amount, the submission date, the bank name, the account type, the last four digits, the current status, the exact McLuck error, and the bank’s return explanation if you have it. Say whether the rejection happened before submission or after release, then ask which requirement failed.
Do not send your full bank account number, password, PIN, security code or one-time code. Submit requested verification documents only through McLuck’s approved secure process.
For payment queries you can also call +1 (424) 842-2442, or +1 (719) 624-7938 for US payment queries, both available 24/7.
Keep in mind that, under our Terms, identity verification must be completed before a redemption can be processed. If you submit a Support request, keep all replies within the same ticket to make tracking and follow-up easier.
